SHELVES in Feng Shui

FENG SHUI QUESTION:

“I recently read that large bookcase/desk units were bad…because they “towered” over you…making you feel little/lessened.  The person in the article turned the bookcase on its side and used it.  I cannot turn my desk unit horizontal…so I was wondering if there is a “fix” for this?”

FENG SHUI ANSWER:

Metaphorically speaking this could be the case; however, one overhead shelf is not the end of the world and should not make you feel dwarfed or lessened.

If more than one shelf exists, then I would remove the bookcase portion and mount it separately on another wall in your office. Not because the shelves make you feel “little or lessened” but rather for your HEALTH.

The reason shelves above a desk, or above a bed while sleeping, is bad Feng Shui – is that ENERGY gets stuck, blocked and/or chaotic.

With Feng Shui, ENERGY needs to flow “gently and freely” to embrace and support your mind, body and spirit.

This is true by the way when working under or close to – a low or pitched ceiling or wall – as in an attic space or small loft area where energy is compressed and harmful to the body.

This scenario along with shelves close to the body, create shooting daggers of energy aimed at your head, neck, shoulders and back causing pain and/or major bone, joint and muscle problems.

Protecting and nurturing one’s health is ALWAYS the first consideration and priority in creating good Feng Shui.
